What the Berry?!

Woooow that is right it's another Blueberry post!!!!!

Now at Simply Mix HQ, blueberries are the food of the GODS!!!!

We simply cannot get enough of them here! Val especially loves them, in fact it was one of the first things I noticed she truly loved (other than cats that is). In fact Val loves Blueberries so much she used to have Blueberry Soya Yoghurt with extra Blueberries for breakfast every day! As such our deep obsession with the blue-berry has transferred to our delectable Cake in a Mug.

Now when placed on top to berries give a sweet burst of flavour with every spoonful. Refreshing the pallet from the dense, delicious chocolate flavours of our Brownie Cake in a Mug. However, this is not the only way to enjoy your added Blueberries.

Before Micro-Baking, stir a few Blueberries into the batter and micro-bake as usual.

This method works best with Funfetti, turning it into a Blueberry muffin of sorts, but is also delicious with the Brownie Flavour too, giving it a Black Forrest Gâteaux vibe.

So what ever you do with your blueberries I hope you enjoy it!

Who wants some Blueberry facts?!

I do i do i do!

The blueberry is one of the only foods that is truly naturally blue in colour. The pigment that gives blueberries their distinctive colour—called anthocyanin—is the same compound that provides the blueberry’s amazing health benefits. A double win if you ask me!

People have been eating blueberries for more than 13,000 years. Just think of how many Blueberries that is!!! Especially when a single blueberry bush can produce as many as 6,000 blueberries per year!

Blueberries were called “star fruits” by North American indigenous peoples because of the five-pointed star shape that is formed at the blossom end of the berry. Such a pretty name don't you think?

Today we delight you with a Blueberry poem from the master wordsmith Robert Frost

Robert Frost

The Blueberries

“You ought to have seen what I saw on my way To the village, through Mortenson’s pasture to-day: Blueberries as big as the end of your thumb, Real sky-blue, and heavy, and ready to drum In the cavernous pail of the first one to come! And all ripe together, not some of them green And some of them ripe! You ought to have seen!”
