Ah now that is a good question. We are heavily invested in ensuring that we are as kind to #motherearth as we can possibly be. Starting a company in this day and age has many pitfalls when it comes to being environmentally friendly. From 'fraudulent' recycling schemes, to an industry that is still somewhat in the dark ages of Environmentalism. You have to carefully navigate the waters of product development, doing your best to remain on your earth protecting course. Dodging carcinogenic icebergs left and right. ⛵
But we continue to do this because we want to create positive change in the world. We want to be a part of the movement that blazes a new trail to a Vegan future.
Where packaging is recycled or reused.
Where waste is a thing of the past and networks of surplus food are set up to feed the hungry.
Where food is no longer a cheap commodity that we impulse buy, but a precious, meaningful investment in both our health and the planet's. That is why Simply Mix is Vegan 🍀
However, a company is no more than the sum of its parts, and here to tell you about their own Vegan Journeys' are the Vegans behind Simply Mix, Valerie & Laurent.
Hello everyone! Val here🙋🏻♀️, I thought I'd introduce myself properly to all you lovelies and Welcome to our blog!
🌱My Vegan Journey started 10 years ago thanks to a close friend which sent me a Facebook invite to join a weekly vegan challenge for Earth Day. Now as I love challenges obviously I accepted. I still remember thinking after joining "it probably won't last"😄 well guess what...joke was on me 'cause it stuck like glue!
🌱I was living in Sicily at the time and not only did I not know anything about veganism, I also had lots of issues finding food aside from fruit and veg (for those of you who don't know what Sicily looked like to vegans in 2009....well I had to make my own tofu/tempeh...). Anywho, I finally decided to move to London for a fresh start and have been in love with this city since❤️
🌱Although London wasn't that vegan friendly when I first got here, watching the vegan community grow has been an overwhelming experience.
Vegan for the Animals, for the Planet, for my Health.
Hello Simply Mixers! It's Laurent here.
My Vegan journey has been an interesting one. It was initially motivated by my dire need to lose weight (I used to weigh 130 kg!).
After years of working out and little to no results due to my poor eating habits I was desperate for anything that would help the weight go away. At this point Val entered my life. She had been Vegan for around 7 years at that point. A picture of health, I really wanted to be able to eat like her and maybe even match her slim physique!
4 years, and 50 kg later, my love for Veganism has gone far beyond the reaches of weight loss and health.
Thanks to Val, I became aware of the plight of our animal brethren. I became aware of the environmental catastrophe we are living and most of all I finally came to understand what being Vegan meant to me.
To me, Veganism is our expression of LOVE to the planet, to the animals, our fellow humans and most importantly ourselves.
The old expression goes hear no evil, see no evil. I think it should be a little more like
"eat no evil, feel no evil".
Thank you for taking the time to find out a bit more about what makes us tick!
